Cartoon Fix for today

When it's all just theory!

My mind is filled up right now.  Some changes were made in our local congregation of the Church.  It may have been handled better than it was but I was surprised at the comments.  ALL comments were about personal feelings. No issues drove the statements. "I was shocked." " I did not like that"  "I was blindsided." "No one talked to me about this."

I know many prayers were uttered prior to the decision but I guess the prayers were addressed to the wrong address.

You and I like all the passages in the Bible about respect, responsibility, seeking the LORD's will over ours.  But that's just theory, RIGHT.  We don't have to wait on the LORD. We have our own opinions.  MM

The Movies 1

The 2017-2018 Movie season is in full swing. The best 2017 movies are just now getting to our town and just in time.

Jumanji, Welcome to the Jungle: This is a fun popcorn movie with action, comedy and a fun story.
Teenagers in Adult bodies caught in a video game.  ***star  2018 Movie 1

Molly's Game:  True Story with great cast and direction. Oscar material. It is freaky what the IRS can do.  One of the year's best.  ****star, 2018 Movie2

The Darkest Hour: True Story of Winston Churchill played masterfully by Gary Oldman.  A key part of the story was his handling of Dunkirk (another recent movie).  This is a great object lesson in what true leadership looks like.   ****1/2 stars,  2018 Movie 3

The Post:  True Story of the Pentagon Papers. The Pentagon Papers were the forerunner to Wikileaks.   While I was sweating the draft during the Vietnam War, The NY Times and the Washington Post were given Top Secret Pentagon documents by David Ellesberg that showed that the Vietnam war was not only unwinnable but they new it  along time ago.  Stephen Spielberg is masterful at telling this story. What makes this so timely is that it is the Press against the President and  It is about a woman that heads a major company in a time when men ruled EVERYTHING.
Oscar stuff with Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.  This is 5 star. 2018 Movie 4

Christmas Visions 2

Downsizing:   This was a good story that uses the idea of getting small (Think Steve Martin) to talk about whats important in life.  Matt Damon stars but the story is the star.  It makes you think about life's decsions and what is important.  I give it 3 stars. 2017 movie 48

The Greatest Showman:  This musical shows off the talents of Hugh Jackman (a great showman) who plays PT Barnam. Interesting story though taken out of order.  Enjoyed:  4 star; 2017 Movie 49

All the Money in The World:   J.Paul Getty is the point of the tale. The world's first billionaire who incidently hit his first oil well outside my hometown of Haskell.  Sad soul and big waste of a man.  Excellently done.  4 stars; 2017 Movie 50

The Shape of Water: Saved on of the best till last.  One of my favorite movies as a kid was "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and he is back in this movie.  At least the creature is identical.  This is a great story: a love story between a creature (captured by the government in the early 1960) and a mute cleaning lady who is assigned to clean the lab where he is kept. This is well told with great detail. The 50's way of life is fully on display.  Surprised by the nudity but it worked in the tale.
It is 5 star; 2017 Movie 51

For the first time in years, I did not make at least a movie a week (but close).  I have many more to see to catch up before the Oscars. It was a great year at the movies
